About Us
The Akshaya Patra Foundation was inducted in 2000.
With the vision― ‘No child shall be deprived of education due to hunger’ and the mission to feed 5 million by 2025, The Akshaya Patra Foundation was inducted in 2000. The organisation’s headquarter is in Bangalore, Karnataka. It implements the mid-day meal programme, under the PM POSHAN Abhiyaan of the Government of India, to mitigate classroom hunger and work on bringing children back to schools.
What started by feeding only 1,500 children in five schools of Bengaluru, is now 2 million children strong with its reach of 65 locations spread across 14 states & 2 union territories of India.
Apart from feeding school children, Akshaya Patra also caters to the need of healthy meals during times of disasters to reach out to different sections of society.
